Homeless

Wow! So here we are 12 days away from moving and I am living at the cottage!  Kerry and I had a harried last day of packing, selling my car, and driving up to the cottage.  Feelings of uncertainty  are beginning to crop up and actually feel pretty good.  After moving into the cottage we had to unpack all the boxes that we brought with us and had to re-sort and decide what we would upgrade at the cottage with things that we would not have room for in our bags.  The cottage received a nice upgrade.

The other thing that became evident is that we will not be bringing much with us to Peru.  Space is tight and we will be purchasing a lot more than we originally anticipated.  This is not necessarily a bad thing, it just is a fact of moving abroad. Next time we go about this I am sure that we will be using a moving company.  In hindsight, we could have brought a lot more with a lot less work had we gone in that direction.  In reality, I think we needed to do it this way because we really didn't know what to bring and this forced a serious pare down.

So the schedule is as follows:
  • See friends and family at the cottage through Saturday July 12th.
  • Go to my sister's house for a bon voyage dinner and sleep over.
  • Go to Brunch on Sunday.
  • Go to Kerry's family's house for a bon voyage dinner, repacking and final sorting.
  • Get a ride to the airport for the actual move.
    • 7 Action Packers
    • 4 large suitcases
    • 2 carry on suitcases
    • 1 guitar box
    • 1 computer box
    • 2 personal item bags
Yes, we will be those people with all the boxes for check-in at the airport that you hope you won't get behind in line.  We are hoping for curbside check in.

No pictures on this post as I am at the Markesan Public Library because my computer is packed up.
