Today I started a hike that I thought would be about 3 miles, turn around and catch a cab back. I started up the road and it kept going and things kept getting more interesting and I couldn't stop. I began to see some false summits and decided that I would have to make it to the pass on the mountain before I came back. I made it 5.4 miles and I made it to the summit. People along the way are not used to seeing a gringo walking up the road so they were very inquisitive and would yell "hey gringo!" then politely wave when I looked. Some would even call me over for a little chat of which I could understand about half.
This was a view early on, before I knew I was walking to the top.
This is a calcium mine?
I reached a plateau and found these cattle.
Here I thought I was going to at the top right around the corner, but it was just the beginning.

These guys are building this house out of mud and thatch. They look really nice when they are finished. Not sure how they hold during the rainy season.
Here are some finished ones.

Looking back at the adobe houses. I think I realized that I was going to the top by now.
